Town centre event will boost festival

BUSINESSES from in and around Malvern are coming together for a special event on Saturday, October 27, to boost the Autumn in Malvern festival.

The music and arts festival, which this year marks the 150th anniversary of Elgar's birth, comes to a climax this weekend with two major concerts at Great Malvern Priory, featuring the Goldberg Ensemble and the Fitzwilliam String Quartet.

And town traders are doing their bit with tomorrow's special promotion day, which is aimed at bringing people into the town and raising money for next year's festival.

The venue is the Robson Ward courtyard, Belle Vue Terrace, and businesses which will be there include Forget-me-not florists, Little Gems, Phoenix Card, Attiva Health Cub and Gym, Temptations confectionary and Zinnia fair trade.

"We will be offering wine and light refreshment and some very good deals on the day, said Adrian Robson Ward. "

In the showroom we are hosting the Caro Sweet Imagineers Exhibition and Caro will be on hand to talk about her work."

Artist Ron Hill is also exhibiting his work, as is painted glass maker Kate Callaghan.

One of the highlights will be a fashion show, hosted by The Dressing Room from Belle Vue Terrace, between 2 and 3pm, when the latest in high fashion will be on show. And Ray Stroud will be serenading visitors will his acoustic guitar between noon and 2 pm.

And Malvern Country Meals will be running a barbecue, where you will be able to try their award-winning sausages. And Pepper and Oz restaurant is running a free draw for dinner for two.

Entry is free and all proceeds from the barbecue and refreshments. plus any donations stallholders make, will go towards the festival.
